Description:
The idea is for troops to make their own go kart and we will race them down the hill as time trials. Fastest time wins. More than one scout can use each kart, the time is for the scout not the kart.
Top three will get medals.
If you can’t get there for 7.00pm don’t worry come, when you can and you should get a slot to race.
For ideas on how to build a kart go to http://www.kartbuilding.net/Wooden_Go-Kart_Plans/index.html
Riders MUST wear a cycle helmet and elbow pads, gloves etc are recommended.
Karts must have some sort of brake.
The steering must lock out at 20 degrees. Last year we had lots of karts start to go out of control as the steering went to nearly right angles and you end up in the bushes or grass. By putting a steering lock on we should keep most people on the course which is virtually straight except for a slight bend at the finish. A piece of rope fixed to the axle is all that is required or stop blocks see diagram.
Shop bought karts can enter but will be subject
